Like most others, music is my life. Songs can make you dance your life away as well as get you through some really tough times. i love it. All of it. Everything it represents.
I have several friends that are producers, along with friends that are musicians, etc... for the past little while I've gotten to sit in on some rad recording sessions and see how its all done!
My producer friend, Matt, has been making some really sick beats! Now, while I was thoroughly enjoying my night in a slightly intoxicated state.. I was listening to one of his beats and made up some random lyrics... simple.. to the beat.. they worked.
The next morning, of course... I forgot them.
WELL! Last week (weeks after my lyrical inspiration) I was listening to the song and my memory was suddenly sparked: lyrics recalled. So text him and tell him I'm on my way over to show my new found lyrical mastermind!
When I arrive, I let him read the lyrics.. which he liked but then he decides to tell me he can't hear how they go to the beat... (Note: I am no singer, nor have I ever tried to be... if you know me, you know I'm quite shy when put in a spotlight) ..so I quietly mouth the lyrics for a minute....He loves it. Now, there's a girl that has been doing vocals on some of their songs, and these lyrics were written for her to sing. But of course, my fantastic beat-making friend Matt informs me that she'd be coming down the following day (which he knew I just happen to be heading out of town for, that night) and I would have to record a draft version of these lyrics for her to reference. So thus begins his incredibly persistent pursuit in getting me to record them for him... After about 15 minutes of convincing, I reluctantly say yes. I spend 10-15 minutes recording the goods and once he's content with the sounds I hit the road down to Sunny San Diego!
Well, upon my arrival back to the valley I stop over to find out how the song turned out! Matts words when I sit down: "uhhh... well... we spent all day on the track... and she tried, really... but... well, listen and tell me what you think."
- she butchered it. Totally, completely butchered it.
So, to sum up this seemingly turned, long blog post, I am officially singing on a track that I wrote the chorus for.. and am on my friends demo album. Done and done. Success.
Love.

Operation Beautiful
So a few weeks ago, I was feeling kind of down in the dumps, a little self-conscious.. when I stumbled upon this website called Operation Beautiful.
Operation Beautiful is this amazing project started by a woman named Caitlin Boyle from North Carolina. One day when feeling just as bummed out as I was, she stuck a little Post-it note on a mirror that read "You are Beautiful!" Knowing that this Post-it could be found by any other woman and that it would surely make them feel good, lifted her spirits.
From that day forward Caitlin posted notes in many different public places, as well as broadcasting her new ventures on her blog. After finding her notes or reading her blog, thousands of women started doing the same and sending pictures & personal stories about why they posted or when they found a note. The simple act of kindness soon became a mission to end negative criticism towards self & others.
After reading several of these stories on her website, and compulsively going out and buying her book (to read while on the treadmill) I was completely inspired.
So without further adieu...
This weeks mission:
Operation Beautiful Post-its . . . time to sticky-note public places to make my global ladies feel good about themselves again!

This weekend I ventured up to Big Bear for the 7th annual Hot Dawgs & Hand Rails competition! For all unaware... HD&HR is a rail jam.. snowboarding competition... by invite only for pro boarders. It's a pretty rad event; TONS of people, tons of sponsors and tons of free swag! Definitely scored a copy of the new video "Paint It Red," along with a few cd's, posters & stickers too! Woo hoo!

The beginning.
Ah the daily grind..
In a heap of stress and mass texts back and forth between my friend E & I, came clarity. Like many others dealing with life's stresses by the hour, the decision to blog has come about. This isn't going to be a blog of ranting & negativity.. just news drops, rad findings, & the occasional sh*t talking ...because everyone needs an outlet sometimes.
Love.
